Peyton Manning is beginning to think about his New Year’s resolutions. One of them is to “be nicer to agents,” he joked on the “ManningCast” on Monday.
In the Giants’ 24-22 win over the Packers in Week 14, the Hall of Fame quarterback best described Tommy DeVito’s agent Sean Stellato, who was seen on the sidelines dressed in all-black with a fedora. “He looks like Johnny Fontane from ‘The Godfather’,” Manning said.
That didn’t bother Stellato, who chalked it up to the Manning brothers watching “too much ‘Goodfellas’.” What did bother him was that the former five-time MVP kept referring to Stellato as “slimy.”
“I don’t know if that’s just him being a southern dude, but you know what, I look at it as elegant,” Stellato said on WFAN’s “Boomer & Gio” the next day, via Audacy. “I don’t understand where ‘slimy’ comes from.”
Given his goals for 2024, Manning decided to take the opportunity to issue some advice for Stellato on Monday.
“Although, I do think agents have no place on the sidelines. There’s no reason an agent should be on the sideline pregame,” he said, via Omaha Productions.
“Your agent didn’t come on the sidelines?” asked Giants great Eli Manning.
“I signed my contract. I said call me in six years when it’s time to renegotiate. That’s the role of an agent at an actual football game,” Peyton Manning replied. “But I wanna apologize to [Sean Stellato]. Seems like a great guy. I apologize, Sean, for making fun of your outfit.”
It’s too bad Peyton Manning didn’t issue this advice sooner. Stellato was spotted on the sidelines again prior to the Giants’ 24-6 loss to the Saints on Sunday. This time, he was dressed in green to match his National Italian-American Sports Hall of Fame jacket.
