Produce Pete postpones St. George Greenmarket appearance until spring

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Greenmarkets are on as usual for this Saturday, Nov. 4. Although fruit and veggie guru Produce Pete aka Pete Napolitano must cancel his St. George market book signing appearance.

A rep for the cookbook author said, “Due to a case of COVID in his household, Pete is erring on the side of caution and has postponed until spring.”

In the meantime, his book can be purchased from his website Producepete.com.

The borough’s two markets are open as usual from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The outdoor Mall market operates at the commuter parking lot at Ring Road through Thursday, Nov. 16. The St. George farmer collection simultaneously sets up behind the St. George Theatre at St. Mark’s Place and Hyatt Street behind the St. George Theatre. That hub is open year round.

Shoppers can find meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, seasonal produce and baked goods at bother operations. Food comes from local growers and producers located within 200 miles of New York City.
