With 20 decks, six waterslides, seven swimming pools, an ice-skating rink, a theatre and more than 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges, the ship can carry up to 7,600 passengers and 2,350 crew members.
Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty said the Icon of the Seas is the “culmination of more than 50 years of dreaming, innovating and living our mission — to deliver the world’s best vacation experiences responsibly.”
Across the 20 decks, the Icon of the Seas is divided into eight neighborhoods, the report states. The ship is powered by six dual-fuel engines, according to the report, which describes the emissions to be greenhouse gas.
“(The ship) is the ultimate multigenerational family vacation, forever changing the status quo in family travel and fulfilling vacation dreams for all ages on board,” Liberty’s announcement said.
The report states that the ship had its official opening with soccer legend Lionel Messi and his Inter-Miami teammates.
The Icon of the Seas was first announced in October 2022, according to the report. After its announcement, the ship saw one of the largest booking days in the Royal Caribbean’s 53-year history, the report said.
