See how this Staten Island school’s mindfulness room is engaging students

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new mindfulness room at a Staten Island middle school has become an “invaluable” space for students to reflect and grow.

Morris Intermediate School (I.S. 61) in Brighton Heights held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday to unveil the new room that many students called a comforting and safe space to unwind, relax and decompress during the school day. It’s part of a larger effort by District 31 and Superintendent Dr. Marion Wilson to implement a mindfulness room in every public school on Staten Island.
