STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC) will commemorate the 25th anniversary of its annual Business Conference with a revamped agenda, a more interactive networking format and a “blockbuster” keynote speaker to headline the Keynote Lunch.
Known as the borough’s largest business awareness event, the conference, presented by Northfield Bank and Spectrum, is well-known throughout the industry for its vendor exposition, “20 under 40″ Leadership Awards and educational break-out sessions. Those elements will remain, the SIEDC noted, but guests will now be able to capitalize on networking opportunities earlier in the day.
“Instead of the traditional Keynote Breakfast led by a speaker, the first session will become a “Kick Off Breakfast” with a more interactive format …” the organization stated in a press release. “The format adjustment comes after a response to attendees’ desire to start their day making connections instead of beginning with a sit-down program.”
Past landmark breakfast speakers have included: Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio; Kenneth Langone, founder of Home Depot; Barbara Corcoran of the Corcoran Group; former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Randy Levine, president of the New York Yankees. Gov. Kathy Hochul’s first visit to Staten Island after being sworn into office occurred at last year’s SIEDC Conference.
“Attendees can still look forward to hearing from an industry leader at the Keynote Lunch,” the organization said, noting that a “blockbuster speaker” will now headline the lunch session and will be named later this month.
Another new element coming to the conference is the 1010 WINS Neighborhood Spotlight, a precursor event to the radio station’s Small Business Challenge, through which small businesses throughout the city compete for a $10K award to advance their firm.
