Skip Bayless vs. Charles Barkley feud escalates: ‘Let me annihilate you on ‘live TV!’

Skip Bayless needs a partner: Fox Sports’ “Undisputed” returns on Aug. 28 and the chair across from the hit-take loudmouth is empty now that he’s run Shannon Sharpe out of the studio.

Plus, shoving Sharpe out the door hasn’t driven up the Q ratings of one of sports media’s most disliked hosts.

So, to make people forget all of that, and to build some momentum — in the dog days of summer — for the relaunch, Bayless is taunting his favorite target: Charles Barkley. The two have been sniping at each other for years, with Barkley most recently calling Bayless a “damn idiot.”

“Charles Barkley would be my dream debate partner on Undisputed,” Bayless said on the latest episode of The Skip Bayless Show. “I would dive out of bed every morning out here in Los Angeles at two o’clock in the morning to get to work with Charles. Please, Charles, please come and please work with me, this ‘damn idiot.’ What a joy it would be to do battle every day with Charles Barkley live on television.

“I could semi-retire. I could mail it in. I could, dare I say, actually have a life and forget about prepping so furiously hard. I’d have to do is let Charles go first and listen to him make a fool out of himself. … I wouldn’t even have to try. So please, please, please, Charles, come be this damn idiot’s debate partner. Please let me annihilate you on a daily basis. Let me make barbecue chicken out of you.”

Barkley is not alone. Recently, Hall of Fame NBA coach George Karl called Bayless “an embarrassment to sports media.”

LeSean McCoy, Keyshawn Johnson and Max Kellerman (recently laid off from ESPN) have been mentioned as possible replacements.

It’s the longest of long shots that Barkley would take the job. At 60, he’s already said he wants to work less, and after years of campaigning against hot takes, wouldn’t the job make him a hypocrite?
