Gerald Frank Smith Sr., 91, died peacefully in Boynton Beach, FL on July 31. Smith was born and raised on Staten Island, living here for 90 years before moving to Florida, where his children and grandchildren lived nearby. During his teen years, he attended Curtis High School, worked at his father’s trucking business, and was a paperboy. As an adult, Smith bravely joined the Navy during the Korean War, earning himself three medals for his years of service. After his Navy career, Smith went on to run the family business with his father. He loved to travel, square dance, and listen to country music. For the full obituary, click here.
Gertrude Mary Stumpf, 92, passed away on August 7 on Staten Island following a brief period of illness. Born in the Bronx in 1930, Stumpf lived a fulfilling life, devoted to loving and helping others. After graduating high school, Stumpf began a career with New York Telephone Co., where she worked until she had her first child. She and her family moved to Staten Island in 1957. After years focused on raising her family, Stumpf started working again in the 1970s, serving in the rectory of Monsignor Farrell High School. She then went on to become a bookkeeper at First Investors. Aside from working, Stumpf was an active parish member at Our Lady Queen of Peace and she even taught CCD classes. She held membership to the Rosary and Altar Society, was a Eucharistic Minister, and was a part of the OLQP Mother’s Club for 24 years. Loved by many, Stumpf was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to 30. For the full obituary, click here.
