Deacon Frederick Fausak, a longtime Staten Islander and beloved family man who worked as a firefighter for 28 years before becoming a deacon, has died. Deacon Fred as a lifetime member of the New York City Fire Department Retirees, Staten Island Division, where he served as their chaplain since his ordination. He previously worked as a substitute teacher at Egbert Intermediate School, Midland Beach, and volunteered for PeeWee Football and Little League Baseball, says his obituary. โDeacon Fredโs greatest joy in life was the love of his family.โ For the full obituary, click here.
Thomas Monahan, a loving husband and great-grandfather, died on July 27. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia (formerly Nisi); His loving children Thomas (Maria), Theresa (Thomas) Quercia, Kevin (Linda), Scott (Patti), Russell (Anita), Craig (Sharin), and Melissa Connolly; his 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Grace Badyna and Patricia Birdsall; brother John, and many nieces and nephews. William David Lidell, 82, died in his home on July 21, 2023. Lidell had a vibrant career, as he was a retired audio visual engineer and artist. He also enjoyed traveling and was a member and Deacon of Parkwood Baptist Church. Douglas Powersย passed away in Naples, Florida on July 23, 2023. Known in the art world as โBarrett Powers,โ the native Staten Islanders made his mark as a curator and designer at Peterson Galleries. Powers attended Staten Island Academy and even painted two murals on the gymnasiumโs walls. He graduated from Wagner College in 2001 and went on to pursue a rich career in the arts.
