Barbara Judge, 91, died on Oct. 5, 2023. Born on Staten Island, she attended PS 29, before boarding at the Northfield School for Girls (now Northfield Mt. Herman) high school in Northfield, MA. She excelled academically, graduating from Pennsylvania State University at the age of 20. She loved the New York Times crossword puzzle, which she completed every day in pen until just a few years ago. She loved to watch the Nittany Lions play football and cheer on her grandkids from the sidelines. More than anything, Barbara was devoted to her family. For the full obituary, click here.
Charles Bernard Taber, a retired FDNY lieutenant, died July 26, 2023. After retiring following 28 years of service, he became an avid golfer and a volunteer at Carmel Richmond and St. Ann’s Church. He also was a dedicated runner who completed two New York City Marathons. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Romanola, who preceded him in death. YESTERDAY’S OBITUARIES
Kathaline Salzano, 81, a retired N.Y.P.D. detective, died on Oct. 4, 2023. Kathaline served in the N.Y.P.D. from Jun. 1968 to Nov. 1994, when she retired with the rank of Detective 2nd Grade. She was the recipient of several awards and honors for her outstanding service, dedication and courage as a police officer. In 1972, in a male dominated job, Mrs. Salzano along with her partner Lucille Burrascano became the first female patrol partners in N.Y.P.D. history, breaking barriers. They worked in the 77th Precinct in Brooklyn, New York. After her retirement, Mrs. Salzano was active in many volunteer and community activities, including serving as a guardian and child advocate for Florida Guardian ad Litem.
