Robert Dallas, a long time Dongan Hills resident of 63 years, member of Saint Matthews Lutheran Church passed away on Tuesday Oct. 2, 2023. Robert was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Sheepshead Bay. He graduated from Metropolitan High School, Manhattan. After high school he joined the Merchant Marines from 1951 to 1956. Robert served his country in Korea from 1957 to 1958 upon completion he received an honorable discharge from the US Army.Upon his return Robert and Carol resided in Manhattan where he was employed for 34 years by Con Edison power Company as an “A” Mechanic in Power Generation. Charles Bernard Taber, a retired FDNY lieutenant, died July 26, 2023. After retiring following 28 years of service, he became an avid golfer and a volunteer at Carmel Richmond and St. Ann’s Church. He also was a dedicated runner who completed two New York City Marathons. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Patricia Romanola, who preceded him in death. Both were lifelong parishioners of St. Ann’s Church. For the full obituary, click here.
