JoAnn Dempsy-Gagliardi, 76, died at a Staten Island hospital on June 1, 2023. a New Dorp High School graduate, she worked for the Bank of Tokyo for 35 years. JoAnn was dedicated to her husband, William Gagliardi, aka Billy Gags, a gifted and well-known musician. Doris Grigoli, 87, died on June 7, 2023, in her home of 63 years on Staten Island. She was born in Brooklyn and worked as a security guard for the New York City school system. “She loved watching the kids walk by her desk every day. She enjoyed cooking for her family, the beach, playing and winning word games, gardening and traveling with her AARP friends. Genevieve Iafe-D’Ambrosio, a former Staten Islander, died May 29, 2023. She was an active member of St. Ann’s parish in Dongan Hills and the Academy of St. Dorothy parents’ guild. Known as Gen, she worked in the food and beverage industry for more than 60 years, first as a waitress at the family-owned Trimarche’s Restaurant in Dongan Hills, then while owner of her own business, Red Ribbon Deli in Eltingville, and finally Gennie D’s Restaurant, of Hernando, Florida. “Her love of cooking was the glue that held family together.
