Staten Island University Hospital Community Park to host summer concert series

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Enjoy the summer season with a series of concerts set to be held at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park.

The โ€˜FerryHawks Summer Local Jam Seriesโ€™ will feature numerous bands on the nights of July 13 and 28, and August 10, this summer. Each event will take place from 6-10 p.m., and theyโ€™ll showcase the skills of two or three local music groups. (Lineups are listed at end of story.)

โ€œStaten Island University Hospital Community Park is the best outdoor venue in New York City, and live music and concerts are key part of the entertainment vision for Staten Island that John Catsimatidis and I have for the park,โ€ Eric Shuffler, President of Staten Island Entertainment, said. โ€œA beautiful view, great local music, and a fun way to spend a summer night at your favorite entertainment spot.โ€

The concerts will take place at the Kills Boro Party Tent, a location in the ballpark sporting scenic views of the city. The Kills Boro bar area will be open to patrons seeking out a drink to accompany the sights and sounds.

โ€œKills Boro is excited to partner with the Ferry Hawks to host this awesome showcase of local Staten Island musicians at our tent area,โ€ Sean Torres, Co-Owner of Kills Boro brewery said. โ€œStaten Island has never been short of musical talent, and this is a new opportunity for Staten Islanders and outer borough guests to experience that with an awesome view of the city as the backdrop.โ€

Walk-up admission will be priced at $10 for each of the slated concert dates.

The concert series is the result of a collaboration between Shuffler and Dr. Darrell Smith, the Director for Jazz Education for Jazz House Kids and a College of Staten Island Adjunct Professor.
