The Staten Island Community Alliance, formerly known as The Jubilee Collective, is a group of African American community-based organizations whose mission is to create programming for the annual Juneteenth Celebrations on Staten Island. According to Dana Walker Boyd, President of SICA, the leaders endeavor to build a cultural environment that will be sustainable organizationally beyond the holiday.

“Reflecting on the triumphant outcome of our 2023 Juneteenth Freedom Festival, SICA hosted a thank you Holiday Mixer to our heartfelt appreciation to the community partners, sponsors, and volunteers whose dedicated time and effort made the Juneteenth Freedom Festival and evening truly special,” said Boyd. “Several SICA Advisory Council members and distinguished guests were in attendance, including Councilmember Kamillah Hanks, NYC Commissioner of Cultural Affairs Laurie Cumbo, and the Honorable Edwina Martin, fostering a sense of community unity and shared appreciation.”

Boyd also expressed enthusiasm for the fourth annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival, to be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. “This upcoming event aims to carry forward the tradition of celebrating freedom, resilience, and unity within our vibrant community,” Boyd added.
