Ten guns have been recovered in Oswego County as part of a state gun trafficking investigation, authorities announced Wednesday.
Four 18-year-olds and a 15-year-old juvenile were charged with 32 felonies and 2 misdemeanors after the firearms were found in five residences in the county, said Trooper Jack Keller, a spokesperson for the State Police.
Keller said State Police Community Stabilization Unit and the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team concluded a three-month investigation into the illegal trafficking of firearms in Central New York.
The investigation led to the discovery of illegal handguns, ghost guns, assault weapons and 3D printed guns, he said.
Firearm parts — utilized to convert semi-automatic weapons into weapons that are capable of fully automatic fire — were also discovered, Keller said.
Among the illegal firearms seized were a Mac 10 submachine gun with a silencer, stolen and defaced firearms and a 40-round extended magazine, Keller said. Some of the firearms have been defaced in an effort to conceal their origin, he said.
Keller said some of the firearms are believed to be from Georgia, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania.
Authorities believe 3D-printed weapon parts are being manufactured in New York to create non-traceable firearms, according to the spokesperson.
