Teenage boy stabbed in broad daylight after altercation in New Dorp

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 16-year-old male was stabbed in both legs following an altercation with multiple individuals Friday morning, according to a spokesman with the NYPD.

Police responded to the scene at Hylan Boulevard and Jacques Avenue at about 11:14 a.m., as noted by the NYPD spokesman. Following the incident, the victim was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North in stable condition.

A source with knowledge of the investigation said the victim was punched in the face near the location during an altercation with a group of individuals. He then fled, but was chased down, the source said.

Additionally, the source reports that one suspect was detained in a nearby parking lot, while another male suspect is sought.

The NYPD does not make available any identifying information on minors.
