The Gym Bag: Singer Foundation holds fundraiser and charity hockey game vs. FDNY; Wagner WR grabs another NEC award

The Mena Singer Foundation was doing its thing again last Friday night during Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Abe Stark Rink in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

Nick Singer, who played his high school hockey at Monsignor Farrell, started the Foundation is the memory of his mom Filomena, who passed away from breast cancer in 2015, and runs fundraisers and charity hockey games to raise money for the Singer Foundation.

On Friday, the Singer Foundation hockey squad took the ice against the FDNY Bravest hockey squad.

Nick Singer reports the event raised north of $6,000 in support of hockey families battling breast cancer with a subsequent auction of the FDNY jerseys through MeiGray to benefit the Ray Pfeifer Foundation, an organization that assists September 11th first responders with medical needs not covered by insurance.

The Singer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity.

โ€œThe night drew a crowd of almost 200 people despite the tough weather with several local businesses chipping in to help out — namely Marc Dolce Photography, Andrea Marie Photography and Little Italy Gourmet,โ€ said Nick Singer.
