These 7 N.Y. counties ranked in top 100 hottest housing markets in U.S. in May

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The real estate market in New York remains one of the hottest in the country, with various counties across the state drawing serious interest from prospective buyers.

Seven New York counties ranked in the top 100 hottest housing markets in the United States in May, according to data from Realtor.com.

The siteโ€™s Market Hotness Index ranks areas based on the current supply and demand within the market, with listing views by market as an indicator of demand and median days on the market as an indicator of supply. These indicators are then weighted and used to develop a comprehensive hotness ranking.

None of the seven Empire State counties included on the list are located in New York City, though they all offer much cheaper prices than youโ€™d find in the Big Apple, with the median listing prices ranging from $220,750 to $352,055.

Two of the seven — Monroe and Wayne counties — were listed in the top 10, meaning theyโ€™re among the hottest of the hot across the entire country.

Eight of the 10 hottest counties in the country are located in the Northeast, with Hartford County, Connecticut, ranking first.
