Monsignor Farrell quarterback Cristian Pinto recently signed a National Letter of Intent for a full scholarship to Wagner College, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.
The three-year varsity starter, who plans to study business at Wagnerโs Nicolais School of Business, said the Grymes Hill school was the right fit for him for a myriad of reasons.
โIโve been up there a lot. (The school) is close to me and they have a great business program and, hopefully, being close to (Manhattan) will help me get a job,โ’ said the 17-year-old Pinto, who led Farrell to 19 victories, including three CHSFL AAA wins, during his career at the Oakwood school. โIt was very important for me to go Division 1 and Iโm really looking forward to the challenge.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Pinto was a dual-threat quarterback in the Lionsโ offense the last three seasons. Over the course of his three-year varsity career, he completed 200 of 389 pass attempts for 3,848 yards and 23 touchdowns. In addition, he also rushed the ball 131 times for 991 yards (7.6 yards per carry) and 15 more scores.
Pintoโs rushing numbers included a career-best 83 carries for 559 yards and 10 scores during the 2023 campaign and the Seahawks, among other things, are impressed with his ability to run the ball.
