STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — While it wasn’t quite once in a lifetime, for many it was the first time.
People gathered throughout the Island on Monday to catch a glimpse of the rare view of the sun and moon in (almost) perfect alignment with the earth.
The vantage point from this part of the country only saw about 90% totality, but that didn’t stop the masses from popping out, getting some fresh air and checking out the rare occurrence.
