NEW YORK — Aaron Judge won’t play in this year’s All-Star Game because of his toe injury. That won’t change.
The Yankees superstar slugger has already been taken off the American League roster, replaced by Rays phenom Wander Franco.
What hasn’t been decided just yet is whether or not Judge will attend the All-Star festivities in Seattle, representing the Yankees during the game on July 11.
“We’re still debating over it,” Judge said at his locker on Saturday morning. “I’ll have an answer here in a couple days.”
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Friday that Judge was planning to stay in New York during the All-Star break, skipping the celebration in order to get daily treatment on his sprained toe. The injury is the biggest reason for why Judge would stick around in the Bronx, electing not to travel to Seattle.

While Judge can receive treatment anywhere, he’s able to do more at Yankee Stadium, working directly with the Yankees’ training staff while moving forward with his slow build of baseball activities.
As much as Judge wants to be there, staying off his foot — instead of traveling all the way to the West Coast for a busy few days — might be the best option for his rehab as well.
“Getting voted in, getting a chance to represent the Yankees, that’s a special honor,” Judge said. “This is what the fans want to see. They want to see the guys that they voted in go to the game and participate and be there.”
Judge added that he always looks forward to spending time with the rest of the league’s All-Stars, something he’s relished during his previous four trips to the All-Star Game, picking their brains. He’s weighing all of these factors, as well as conversations with his family, into his decision.
