Will Ferrell jokes Giants’ Tommy DeVito is ‘probably’ from Staten Island, would play an older version of the quarterback in a movie

In Will Ferrell’s mind, Tommy DeVito should be a Staten Islander — and it’s a role the “Step Brothers” actor would be interested in taking.

The comedian appeared on the FanDuel TV show, “Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams” recently, when Adams began talking about the out-of-nowhere success of DeVito, the New York Giants’ backup quarterback-turned-starter.

Ferrell joked that he’d be down to play an “old Tommy DeVito” in a movie; the role would be reminiscent of Ferrell’s role as Chazz Reinhold in “Wedding Crashers”: A grown man who still lives with his parents.

DeVito, 25, has quickly become known for his finger-pinch touchdown celebrations, and has earned the nickname “Tommy Cutlets” after his favorite food, chicken cutlets. The undrafted rookie has also been open about still living with his parents.

Ferrell asked Adams if DeVito lived on Staten Island, and quickly followed that up with, “He probably does.”

“I think for the movie, he’s got to live in Staten Island,” said Ferrell.

“With his parents, in the basement,” he added.

Unfortunately, Staten Island can’t claim the NFL’s currently most talked about QB. DeVito is New Jersey, born and raised.
