Woman charged after exploiting glitch that gave her free gas at Nebraska station: Report

If there’s no such thing as a free lunch, there’s definitely no such thing as free gas.

A Nebraska woman apparently didn’t think so however, as she figured out a way to get free gasoline by double- swiping a rewards card at a gas pump, the Associated Press is reporting.

The 45-year-old woman was arrested on March 6 and faces felony theft charges accusing her of illegally taking $28,000 in free gas, the report said.

Authorities say the woman took advantage for several months of a glitch that allowed anyone double-swiping rewards cards at the Pump & Pantry in Lincoln to put the system into demo mode which would then allow them to pump gas without paying for it, the report said.

The glitch has since been fixed, the report said.
