Bronx police officers shot and killed a crazed man who allegedly attacked his family with a knife in the Bronx on Friday morning, police and sources familiar with the investigation said.
According to police sources, officers from the 52nd Precinct rushed to an apartment building located at 2865 Creston Ave. at around 11:18 a.m. when police encountered a violent individual.
Sources familiar with the matter say the cops learned the 30-year-old man made violent threats to kill his family before stabbing them inside a 13th floor apartment.
It is believed the officers attempted to verbally talk the man down but ultimately fired a single shot to stop the attack.ย
First responders performed CPR on the assailant at the scene before rushing him to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he later died. The exact nature of the fatal bullet wound was not yet known.ย
Several others injured in the knife attack were also whisked to a local hospital but their condition remains unknown.
While the officers were not apparently injured in the incident, they were also taken to a medical center for tinnitus after unleashing the gunfire.
Police are set to hold a press conference later this afternoon during which they are expected to release more details.
