12-year-old falls onto L train track in Williamsburg —no major injuries

A 12-year-old boy fell into a trackbed at the Lorimer Street subway station in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning during the commuter rush, temporarily shutting down L-train service in both directions, police said.

The 12-year-old tripped onto the trackbed serving Manhattan-bound L trains around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said, prompting MTA officials to cut the power to the third rail. The child was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in Manhattan with minor injuries, and no criminality is suspected, according to police.

Police said power was restored around 9:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Subway service resumed in both directions shortly before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after L trains stopped running between the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues station in Brooklyn and 8th Avenue in Manhattan, according to alerts on the MTA’s website.
