2 adults, 2 children found dead in Manhattan apartment: NYPD

A man, woman and two young children were found dead inside a Manhattan apartment on Monday, the NYPD said.

Officers were conducting a wellness check at the Upper West Side apartment on West 86th Street around 3 p.m. when they found a 41-year-old man, 40-year-old woman, 3-year-old boy and 1-year-old boy, authorities said. Both the adults appeared to have sustained trauma to the neck, and the toddlers to the torso, police said.

Police needed FDNY assistance in order to gain entry into the fourth-floor apartment, the NYPD said.

The New York Daily News reported that all four victims suffered stab wounds in what police believed to be a murder-suicide, citing law enforcement sources.

All four were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names were not immediately made public.

An investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
