Police were searching Tuesday morning for a group of armed suspects who allegedly broke into a home in Staten Island and robbed and attacked a family, including a young girl.
Around 12:45 a.m. Monday, four men kicked in the front door of a house on a quiet residential block near Livingston Avenue and Queen Street in Manor Heights, according to the NYPD.
Police said three of the suspects pulled out guns inside the home and demanded money and jewelry from the residents: a 33-year-old woman, a 54-year-old man, a 5-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.
The suspects then allegedly struck and injured the woman and girl in the face with the guns, grabbed a cellphone and fled the house in an unknown direction.
The victims were taken to Staten Island University Hospital North in stable condition and were treated for lacerations and bleeding, police said.
The NYPD is investigating the incident, including a motive and whether the suspects and victims knew each other.
This is a developing story and may be updated.
