Five people were injured after a crane collapsed at a construction site in Manhattan on Tuesday, FDNY officials said.

The boom truck crane collapsed at 3880 Ninth Ave., in Inwood, around 2:26 p.m., according to the authorities. All but one of the victimsโ€™ injuries were described as being minor โ€“ with one suffering serious, but not life-threatening injuries. Members of the Fire Department and Department of Buildings โ€“ among other agencies โ€“ were investigating on-site.

De La Rosa attributed the influx of construction sites in the area due to rezoning measures passed by the previous members of the City Council.

DeLaRosa, who also chairs the civil service and labor committee, said those injured on Tuesday are all construction workers.

She said that โ€œaccountability and transparency are important โ€“ especially for the construction companies and developers that are developing in our neighborhoods.โ€
