5-year-old twins found dead inside Bronx home: NYPD

Two 5-year-old twins were found dead inside a Bronx home Monday morning, police said.

According to the NYPD, the mother of the siblings, a boy and a girl, called 911 at around 11:20 a.m. Officers responding to the apartment on E 175 Street and Topping Avenue found both children unconscious and unresponsive inside, police said. EMS pronounced them dead at the scene.

It was not immediately clear what may have led to the siblings’ deaths. Police said the Office of the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.

A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
