A total of seven people, including a 12-year-old girl, were shot and injured when gunfire erupted in two separate incidents in the Bronx Sunday night, according to police.
Four were hit just after 9:45 p.m. in front of 1780 Eastburn Avenue in Mount Hope, according to policeโ including 12-year-old Ninoska Sanchez, who was struck in the right shoulder. All were in stable condition.
An additional three people were shot hours later, around 4:30 a.m. at 400 Claremont Parkway in Morrisania, police said. A 28-year-old man and a 34-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the torso were listed in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital, while a third man was stable at Bronx Lebanon Hospital after being shot in the arm and leg.
Police have yet to make arrests for either shooting, and the motives are still unknown.

But neighbors on Eastburn Avenue hope police will step in to make their block safer. Maria Toribio was shot in the foot as she tried to help Sanchez flee the gunfire. She says a group of men tend to hang out along Eastburn Avenue, selling drugs openly.
โThere are always men right in front of our buildingโs entrance,โ Toribio said in Spanish. โThey donโt live around here, I donโt know any of them. We call 311, but no one cares.”
Toribio believes the gunfire was meant for those men. She and Sanchezโs mother, a close friend, had planned a quiet night at Toribioโs apartment, with sandwiches for the kids. She had just gone to the corner bodega, on the corner of Eastburn Avenue and East 175th Street, to pick them up.
โEverything happened so fast,โ Toribio said.
When she came out of the bodega, she heard the first shot, then more โ and saw a terrified Sanchez holding her arm in the air.
