The MTA said service on the 7 train was “severely delayed” in both directions Tuesday morning as authorities responded to a person struck on the tracks at the 82 Street-Jackson Heights station in Queens.
Police said an unidentified male on the tracks was fatally hit by a 7 train around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday as it entered the station. The conductor was unable to stop in time, according to the NYPD. No criminality was suspected.
As of around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, the MTA recommended that passengers take the E, F, R, N, or W trains as alternatives to get between Queens and Manhattan.
“For service between Queensboro Plaza and Flushing-Main St, consider using Q32 or Q66 buses,” the MTA said in a service alert.
7-line trains were suspended for about an hour between the 33 Street-Rawson Street and 74 Street-Broadway stations early Tuesday but have since resumed servicing those stations.
Last week, 18-year-old Queens resident Jessica Ajtzac Guarcas was fatally struck by an E train at the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue station — less than half a mile from Tuesday’s incident. She had fallen onto the tracks as the train was entering the station, according to police and family members who reviewed videos of what happened.
