Just last week, Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill critics say guts the state’s Open Public Records Act, making it harder to get government emails and other documents, and weakening residents’ options for taking governments that illegally withhold records to court.
Murphy โ who also signed an election financing reform bill that opened the door to a campaign of “phantom” candidates in South Jersey โ says he doesn’t think it’ll lead to more corruption, despite the objections of more than 100 good-government and activist groups.
Also: Have you ridden NJ Transit lately? You have our sympathies. Murphy says he’s talking tough with Amtrak about problems on its lines causing massiveย train delays. But at the same time service seems to be falling apart, NJ Transit is charging riders more.
