Bronx infant’s body found in woods near Yankee Stadium, parents questioned

A 3-month-old girl’s tiny body was found in a trash-strewn thatch of woods near Yankee Stadium — and her parents are being questioned about the suspicious death, police sources said Monday.

Little Genevieve Comager’s grandfather asked police to perform a wellness check on the infant at around 8 p.m. Sunday after he grew suspicious following a phone call with his son — the girl’s father — who acted evasively when questioned about his baby girl, according to law enforcement sources.

After some questioning, a family member broke down and took the police to a wooded area strewn with trash including a broken toilet off W. 161st St. near the Major Deegan Expressway.

Cops found the baby dead in the garbage-filled woods about three blocks from Yankee Stadium.

Investigators consider little Genevieve’s death is suspicious and took the parents in for questioning. It’s believed the father may have something to do with how the tot ended up in the woods, a police source said.

“The safety and well-being of New York City’s children is our top priority,” said Administration for Children’s Services spokeswoman Marisa Kaufman. “We are investigating this case with the NYPD.”

She wouldn’t say if the agency had any previous contact with the family.

One neighbor characterized Genevieve’s mother and father as the quiet, but typical, parents of a newborn baby, who didn’t seem capable of callously discarding their lifeless daughter in the trash.

“The parents seemed like any other father and mother, but…
