A Brooklyn baseball coach was indicted for allegedly sexually abusing seven players ranging from 12 to 14 years old, the Brooklyn district attorneyโs office said on Thursday.
Nicolas Morton, 31, was charged in a 20-count indictment with sexual conduct against a child, sexual abuse, forcible touching, unlawful imprisonment and 13 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez said.
Court documents tell disturbing details of the case against Morton, who ran a travel baseball team and served as the head coach at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn Heights. The DA alleged that the coach made sexual comments, including speaking extensively about masturbation, repeatedly requesting to see the boysโ pubic hair and saying that heโd stop running exhaustive drills if players exposed themselves at nearly every practice for the travel teams, according to testimony from some of the victims.
Some players were allegedly told theyโd be cut from the team if they did not comply, officials said. Some of the players began sharing information with their parents, who later reported these concerns to Packer, according to the DAโs office.
โThe disturbing details of this case highlight the lasting damage such behavior inflicts on vulnerable youth, and we are committed to holding this defendant fully accountable,โ Gonzalez said in a statement on Thursday.
The school fired Morton, who resides in Park Slope, in August. He is scheduled to return to court in December.
Mortonโs attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
