Brooklyn Law School has announced the establishment of the Allen Grubman Chair in Media and Entertainment Law, funded by a generous $1.5 million endowment from Allen Grubman, a distinguished alumnus from the class of 1967, and his wife, Deborah.ย
This contribution is an effort to attract a leading scholar in the field and solidify the schoolโs position as a key player in media and entertainment law education.
David Meyer, president and dean at Brooklyn Law School, expressed profound gratitude towards the Grubmans for their landmark gift.
โWe could not be more grateful to Allen and Deborah Grubman,โ said Meyer. โThis landmark gift lays the foundation for an ambitious expansion of Brooklyn Lawโs leadership in media and entertainment law.โ
Brooklyn Law School has become renowned for its success in the realms of media, sports, and entertainment law. It was ranked second by Billboard magazine in April 2023 as a leading law school for top music lawyers and a ninth-place ranking by The Hollywood Reporter as a top institution for aspiring entertainment lawyers.
The endowmentโs official unveiling was Feb. 9 and featured a special discussion with Allen Grubman by esteemed television journalist Bryant Gumbel. The discussion covered Grubmanโs journey from law student to a celebrated career representing iconic figures such as Bruce Springsteen, LeBron James and Madonna.ย
Grubman, recognized for his exceptional contributions to the field as the first lawyer to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, has consistently celebrated his connection to Brooklyn Law School.
