Brooklyn man found dead after being punched by relative, deemed homicide

A 58-year-old man was found dead by his wife hours after he was punched in the head by a relative during a clash inside the victimโ€™s Brooklyn apartment โ€” and the death has been deemed a homicide, police said Wednesday.

James Keitt was discovered dead on his living room couch by his wife inside their Starrett City apartment on Elmira Loop near Pennsylvania Ave. about 7:40 a.m. Sunday, cops said.

When responding officers noticed a large welt around Keittโ€™s right eye his wife explained the night before he got into a fight with a relative inside the apartment and was punched.

Keitt lay down on the couch after the fight and fell asleep and when his wife woke up the next morning he wasnโ€™t breathing.

An autopsy later confirmed Keitt died from the injuries he suffered from the punch and his death was declared a homicide, cops said.

Police on Wednesday were looking to question the relative Keitt fought with.
