Domenick Napoletano to be president of NYS Bar Association in June 2024

Domenick Napoletano, a past president of the Brooklyn Bar Association, has been selected as the incoming president-elect of the New York State Bar Association. He will officially assume the role on June 1st and bring his extensive experience in the legal field to the position.

He will become the full-fledged president on June 1st, 2024.

“I am excited to take on this new leadership role and continue to work hard for our members on behalf of our profession,” he said “We can accomplish so much when we work together tackling the tough issues we are facing as lawyers today.”

Napoletano has served as the association’s treasurer for the past five years, leading the Working Group on Facial Recognition Software and Access to Legal Representation. The group has been investigating the impact of facial recognition technology on civil liberties, and when Napoletano takes over as president-elect, he will become the chair of the Committee on Access to Justice.

As a solo practitioner, Napoletano is well-versed in the challenges of running a small law firm. He demonstrated this in 2020 when he co-chaired the association’s Emergency Task Force for Solo and Small Firm Practitioners.

He has also held the position of chair of the General Practice Section and co-chair of the Civil Practice Law and Rules Committee. Throughout his time with the New York State Bar Association, he has been actively involved in a variety of issues, including animal rights, gun violence, and citizens’ rights in Puerto Rico.

In his legal practice, Napoletano focuses on complex commercial litigation and appellate work, with a specialty in real property, tenancy, and occupancy issues. He has been a leader in several state and federal class action lawsuits, including one against the New York City Department of Finance over the imposition of “vault taxes.”
