It’s a gloomy Monday morning in New York City, where a Long Island City eatery is giving Americans a new appreciation for instant noodles.

I personally love a good instant-noodle meal, but for many Americans, the noodles’ “just add water” nature represents a low-quality, cheap eat that makes for a good punch line. Elsewhere in the world, instant noodles are a beloved meal, dressed up and proudly devoured on the daily. That love is what brought one NYC couple together and inspired them to open an instant-noodle shop in Queens.
