An elderly Dominican immigrant died from his injuries two days after he was struck by a van a block away from the Upper West Side assisted living facility where he lived , police said Thursday.
The driver of a 2017 Ram van slammed into 74-year-old Angel Rodriguez-Albuquerque as he crossed the street at Amsterdam Ave. and W. 106th St., sending him flying to the pavement at about 3:45 p.m. on May 10, cops said.
The van driver stayed at the scene.
Rodriguez-Albuquerque suffered head trauma and cuts to his arms, cops said.
Medics rushed the victim to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was initially in stable condition.
Two days later, Rodriguez-Albuquerque died of his injuries.

Rodriguez-Albuquerque immigrated to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic and โworked hard to become a U.S. citizen,โ said Guilliermo Lopez, a staff member at the facility where he lived.
The victim leaves behind two grown sons, said Lopez, 39.
โHe was awesome, always looking out for us. He treated us like we were his other kids,โ Lopez said of the staff members. โItโs a tragedy.โ
Despite struggling with medical issues, Rodriguez-Albuquerque always went to church when he was able to walk there, Lopez said.
โHe was a really giving person who was really into the Bible,โ Lopez added.
Lopez was not working the day Rodriguez-Albuquerque was struck and said he was not sure where he was headed that afternoon.
No charges had been filed against the van driver as of Thursday afternoon, cops said. The investigation is still underway.
