It’s Wednesday afternoon in New York City and our sanitation department is taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to publicly shame businesses not complying with new trash disposal rules.
The agency’s latest victim is the flagship Ralph Lauren store on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a double offender that was caught two days in a row not following the anti-rat regulations. My favorite call out thus far has been to this Dunkin’ location.
Here’s what else is happening:
- Students in New York are subjected to 60 active shooter drills in school from 3K to their senior year of high school and a bill introduced in the state senate wants to change that.
- There are a lot of unknowns about AI, but what we do know now is that AI-generated songs are actually eligible for a Grammy, as evidenced by the AI-generated Drake and The Weeknd song “Heart on My Sleeve” which was just submitted for the award.
- What else can we fit in Times Square? It looks like there’s at least room for the city’s largest haunted house which is about to open for the season.
- Oh, baby! Scientists have figured out how to grow something that looks a whole lot like an early human embryo without using a sperm, egg or a womb.
- Weird food creations aren’t the only slightly terrifying thing coming out of fast food joints through the years. Just take a look at these vintage training videos.
- The MTV VMA’s are back at the Newark’s Prudential Center but they’ll be taking over the Oculus in Manhattan this weekend for a block party to pre-game.
- Nimbus is an emotional support emu at the center of a legal dispute between a Virginia man, the city of Virginia Beach and his neighbor.
