Here’s what else is happening:
- The city’s overall tally of rent-regulated apartments dropped from 2021 to 2022, according to tax records reviewed by THE CITY, causing concern among tenant advocates that landlords are renting out those units at market-rate prices.
- Former New Jersey State Senate President Steve Sweeney, a longtime Democratic politician who lost his seat in a 2021 upset, said he’s running for governor in 2025.
- More and more, Long Islanders are driving around with blinding LED headlights and hurting each other’s eyes.
- East Hampton Village is trying to find tenants to rent out all the storefronts that sit empty during the winter. (55 of the village’s 125 stores are currently closed or empty.)
