The TD Five Boro Bike Tour, which is expected to bring tens of thousands of cyclists to the streets of New York City, will be closing down vast stretches of roadway to cars and other motorized vehicles on Sunday.
Cyclists will be taking over 40 miles of city streets and pathways, with the first wave of bikes departing from Lower Manhattan at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the city Department of Transportation are encouraging people to avoid car travel within the five boroughs and use public transit.
The cycling route, which is viewable here, goes from Lower to Upper Manhattan before heading into the Bronx. It returns to Manhattan along the East Side before heading into Queens and Brooklyn. The tour finishes in Staten Island.
