Girlfriend defends driver charged in fatal NYC road rage clash

The girlfriend of the driver accused of fatally mowing down a stranger during a crazed road rage clash on the Upper East Side had a front-row seat to the mayhem โ€” and claims her boyfriend and their children are the true victims.

Quenteria Daniels, 27, was being driven to work by boyfriend Andre Mosby with their three young kids in tow when the confrontation sparked off on E. 60th St. near Park Ave.

Mosby, 26, now charged with manslaughter, was driving west on E. 60th St. when his Volkswagen Jetta got into a fender-bender with the victimโ€™s Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

Mosbyโ€™s Jettaโ€™s side-view mirror was lopped off in the collision, cops and Daniels said.

โ€œWe were four blocks away from my workplace when this guy tried to block us and broke our carโ€™s side mirror,โ€ Mosby said. โ€œMy husband asked him to get back to his car and call the cops because we wanted to handle it the right way.โ€

One police source called the minor crash a โ€œlove tap.โ€

Victim Roberto Velez Alvarez slashed his killer's tires before being fatally run down in an Upper East Side road rage clash sparked by a minor fender-bender, according to cops.

Danielsโ€™ three children, two girls and a boy, were in the backseat when the pickup truck driver, 54-year-old Roberto Velez Alvarez, ran back to his car and retrieved a knife, she said.

โ€œHe raised his hand with the knife at us,โ€ she recalled. โ€œWe were terrified. My kids were screaming and shouting.โ€

Velez-Alvarez started stabbing the Jettaโ€™s tires with his knife, according to cops. Velez Alvarezโ€™s heartbroken widow told the Daily News Thursday she doesnโ€™t believe her husband would ever attack anyone with a knife.
