A homeless man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a young woman during a bold daylight attack on a Queens street, police said Monday.
Kevin Campos, 28, was taken into custody a few hours after police released surveillance footage of the suspect fleeing the scene of the Saturday afternoon assault near 27th St. and 30th Ave. in Astoria.
Residents on Sunday spotted Campos near Astoria Park and called 911 after recognizing him as the man wanted in the sex attack.
Cops grabbed Campos without incident and charged him with sex abuse, forcible touching and assault.
Campos was sporting a hoodie and a baseball cap when he allegedly grabbed the 20-year-old victim just before 2 p.m., cops said.
He reached his hand into the womanโs shorts, touching her privates and pushed her up against a fence before the woman bravely fought him off, according to cops.
Campos ran off, cops said. His victim was not seriously harmed.
His arraignment in Queens Criminal Court was pending Monday.
