In a year of significant developments for the Jacksonville University College of Law, the biggest news came with the start of construction for its new Downtown campus, guided by the leadership of Founding Dean Nick Allard.
The college, which welcomed its inaugural class of 14 students in August 2022, has seen steady growth. By August 2023, this number had almost doubled, with the second class of 26 students, including four double Dolphins, who completed their undergraduate degrees at Jacksonville University.
The highlight of 2023 was the initiation of the build-out for the law schoolโs permanent campus at 121 W. Forsyth St. With a construction cost of almost $4.3 million, the project will encompass four floors, totaling 47,355 square feet, significantly expanding from their current space at VyStar Tower.

โWe conducted an extremely thorough evaluation of a large number of options. Close to the courts and in the center of the legal community, it is the most excellent spot of many that we considered,โ Allard told the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The new campus, scheduled to be ready by summer 2024, will feature modern facilities, including classrooms, administrative offices, counseling rooms, a student lounge and an expansive law library. An atrium and stairs will connect the third and fourth floors, creating an open and collaborative space.
