Mercedes-Benz driver charged with DWI in Queens crash that killed DEP worker: NYPD

The drunken Mercedes-Benz driver who slammed into a city Departmental of Environmental truck in Queens, killing an agency worker, has been charged, police said Friday.

Errick Persaud, 24, was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

Police said the 38-year-old victim, was riding in the front passenger seat of a DEP truck that was struck by Persaudโ€™s Mercedes at Atlantic Ave. and Lefferts Blvd. in Richmond Hill at 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

The impact of the crash flipped over the truck.

The 40-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said, but the passenger was ejected from the truck and was pinned beneath it.

Medics rushed him to Jamaica Hospital with severe head and body injuries but he could not be saved.

His name has not yet been released.
