Police on Wednesday were looking for a moped-riding duo wanted for robbing victims throughout Manhattan last month.

The NYPD said the pair robbed โ€“ or tried to rob โ€“ at least five people, mostly women, on the evenings of Dec. 15 and Dec. 18. In each case, police said victims were approached by two individuals riding a dark colored moped, who stole their purse, bags or wallets.

The first of the reported incidents took place at around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. Police said the two individuals rode the moped up to a 38-year-old woman in the vicinity of First Avenue and 52nd Street in Midtown. They took her purse by force, causing her to fall to the ground, and then rode away, police said.

On Dec. 18, the two went on a longer spree between 7:40 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. throughout Midtown, robbing three more women between the ages of 22 and 40, and also attempting to rob a 37-year-old man, the NYPD said.

NYPD crime data for the month of December is not yet available, but robberies were down 9.7% in November 2023 compared to the same month in 2022.
