Mystery bicyclist critically hurt when struck by NYC SUV driver has died

A mystery man critically hurt riding his bike in Brooklyn when he was struck by an SUV driver has been identified โ€” but has died of his injuries, cops said Thursday.

Edgar Josรฉ Torres-Hernandez was biking near Nostrand Ave. and Avenue R in Sheepshead Bay when he got into a crash with the driver of a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder about 9:15 p.m. Friday, cops said.

Medics took him to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where he was listed in critical condition from a massive head injury and put on a respirator.

Torres-Hernandez had no ID on him when he was struck. NYPD cops desperate to identify him released a photo of him unconscious in his hospital bed along with photos of his various tattoos in the hopes someone would recognize him.

A relative came forward and identified Torres-Hernandez on Sunday, cops said.

The bicyclist died of his injuries on Tuesday. He lived in Bay Ridge, cops said.

The 50-year-old man driving the SUV remained at the scene of the crash and no criminal charges were immediately filed.
