Three New York City teachers were arrested this week on various charges, according to the NYPD, including assault and sexual misconduct.
On Thursday, 70-year-old Mohamed Baksh was taken into custody at a school in the Bronx after a 13-year-old girl reported that he had grabbed her breast while trying to give her a hug. She claimed she had been trying to push him away, according to police.
Baksh was charged with sexual misconduct, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. According to the DOEโs payroll database, Baksh was working as a special education teacher and had been with the department since 2011.
An hour earlier, police said teacher Brian Thomas, 33, was arrested at a school on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, after a 12-year-old boy claimed Thomas had punched him in the chest.
The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital with a minor injury.
Thomas was charged with harassment and endangering the welfare of a child.
On Monday, 40-year-old David Moore was arrested while at work at PS 168X on Morris Avenue in the Bronx. Police said a 12-year-old boy claimed Moore struck him in the ribcage during a verbal dispute.
Moore is listed on the schoolโs website as an alternate assessment teacher. He was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, according to police.
The boy suffered an injury to his side, but cops said he did not have to visit the hospital.
The city Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment on all three incidents.
