NYPD: Man fatally struck by Manhattan F train — second in a week

A man in his 40s was struck and killed by a northbound F train after lying on the tracks in Manhattan early Thursday morning, according to police.

NYPD officials said the man was seen prone on the tracks at the West 4th St– Washington Square station just before 5 a.m.

He was hit by the train and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity was not immediately released, and police said they did not suspect any criminality.

Thursday’s incident was the second fatality on the F line this week. Police said a man in his 30s jumped onto the tracks at the Avenue N station in Midwood, Brooklyn around 5 p.m. Tuesday, and was struck and killed by a southbound F train.

Police did not suspect any criminality in that case either, and the man was still unidentified as of Thursday morning.

Northbound F trains were rerouted along the A and G lines Thursday morning for several hours. They resumed making scheduled stops just after 7 a.m., though the MTA said there were still delays.
