NYPD: Queens burglar posing as Amazon worker has been pillaging apartments for a year

Police said Wednesday they’re looking for a man who’s stolen thousands of dollars in jewelry and other valuables in a string of burglaries in Queens that stretch back over a year.

According to NYPD officials, the suspect has targeted apartments across Astoria and Sunnyside Gardens.

He allegedly waits outside buildings in a blue Amazon vest until someone walks out, then enters and knocks on doors to see if residents are home. Once he confirms that a particular apartment is empty, he slips in through a window, police said.

Police have connected him to nine different incidents, starting in January of 2023, when he allegedly stole more than $4,000 worth of jewelry and property from a home near 37th Street and 28th Avenue in Astoria.

The most recent break-in was reported to police on March 5, where the suspect allegedly stole almost $7,000 worth of valuables from an apartment on 53rd Street and Skillman Avenue in Woodside.

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Police officials said they were investigating and looking for more video surveillance.
